Seeking to foster
exchanges among practitioners in the field
of eye care with a view to advancing the
profession, The Clinic has been organizing annual scientific
conferences, since 1999, to provide a
forum for the introduction of
the latest medical and
surgical discoveries in ophthalmology.
Dr. Fanous is a sought-after guest speaker
at international meetings, where he
is invited to discuss the findings
and results of his research studies. Here
are some examples of recent studies in
which he has participated :
- From 1993 to 1996, Dr. Fanous
participated in a North American study on
the multifocal AMO Array
lens. In June 1996, he was honored
for his significant contributions to the clinical investigation
of this lens;
- From 1998 to 2001,
he took part in an international
study on the implantable contact lens (ICL). In 2001,
The Montreal Eye Clinic was designated as one
of only three centers of excellence
for ICL in Canada for training sourgeons
to master this new technique.
- In
2002, he started a Canadian study for
a new surgical technique that uses
Excimer laser to treat glaucoma.
