What are the advantages of the LASIK technique
compared to the regular PRK technique?
PRK treats
the surface of the cornea with the Excimer laser while LASIK treats the inner layers of the cornea.
For this reason, with LASIK there is less area to heal, less risk of scarring, less risk of seeing
halos, less pain, less postoperative medication.
Because LASIK uses a microkeratome, results are
more dependent on surgical experience than with
PRK. Other advantages of LASIK: Both eyes are
treated at the same time and no eye patch is needed.
You will start to see better immediately after
the procedure and you can resume your normal activities
within a few days.
