The
OCT scan
Using the OCT Scanner, a cross-sectional image of your
retina shows your doctor what happens under the surface.
This allows for an earlier diagnosis and more effective
follow-up of retinal diseases like macular degeneration and diabetic
retinopathy.
- In Macular Degeneration, abnormalities below the
retinal surface can be identified and treated before
they start interfering with central vision.
- In Diabetic Rethinopathy, small retinal hemorrhages
and the accumulation of fluid within the retina lead
to swelling of macular tissue. This can produce dark
areas in the field of vision and can reduce sharpness
of vision.
Angiography
Is a test that consists of injecting a colorant in the veins in your forearm. A series of photos are taken to identify the abnormal blood vessels in order to treat them either with laser or intra-ocular injections.
Hi-Resolution digital photos of the retina
A series of digital photos of the retina are taken over time and analysed with the use of an advanced computer system. By doing this, minor changes that may not be identifiable during an ophthalmic exam can be detected and treatment can begin immediately. |
