| Vision Correction |
 |
The iris controls the
amount of light entering the eye through the pupil. The light
rays are focused by the cornea and the eye’s clear lens
onto the retina. |
| Cataract
Surgery |
 |
A cataract is a clouding of the natural crystalline lens
of the eye. In order for us to see properly, the light that
enters the eye must pass through this lens. For cataract sufferers,
the lens becomes partially or totally opaque, greatly reducing
visual acuity. Generally speaking, cataracts are caused by
the aging process. |
| Glaucoma
Treatment |
 |
The most common form of glaucoma is open angle glaucoma.
This is a progressive disease of the optic nerve caused by
elevated pressure inside the eye. Vision that is lost from
glaucoma can never be restored. |
| Treatment
of Retinal Diseases |
 |
Regular eye examinations are important in detecting retinal diseases like macular
degeneration and diabetic retinopathy because the first symptoms often go unnoticed.
Like with glaucoma, early detection of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy
may prevent or delay further vision loss, since treatment is only effective when
started early. |
| Oculoplastics |
 |
Oculoplastic surgery involves the eye socket,
eyelids, tear ducts, and the face. These procedures include repair
of droopy eyelids, repair of blocked tear ducts, eye socket–fracture
repairs and removal of tumors in and around the eyes. |
