| The Intralase Laser |
IntraLase is a painless technology that eliminates
the risk of potential complications from the use of a blade
in traditional procedures, while maximizing visual results.
It also makes it possible to treat patients who
were previously considered poor candidates for conventional
LASIK surgery because of a thin cornea or very severe myopia. |
Allegretto Wave Laser |
This
latest Excimer laser system breakthrough was the first in the
industry to be conceived and developed for application in customized
refractive surgery.
The Allgretto Wave laser was also the first
laser to use wavefront-optimized profiles that takes corneal
curvature into consideration, thus integrating an important
wavefront-guided treatment feature in standard laser vision
correction. |
THE
VISX STAR S4 Excimer Laser |
Latest excimer laser system represents the most advanced laser
technology platform available today.
Integrating data collected
by the WaveScan WaveFront System, the STAR S4 IR utilizes these
exclusive VISX technologies to deliver precision custom ablations |
The
WaveScan WaveFront System |
The WaveScan WaveFront System is an ophthalmic diagnostic
instrument that measures the refractive error and wavefront
aberrations of the human eye using a Hartmann-Shack wavefront
sensor. The measurements can be used to determine regular (sphero-cylindrical)
refractive errors and irregularities (aberrations) that cause
decreased or blurry vision in the human eye. The WaveScan software
uses the information to create a custom tailored correction
map for the unique characteristics of each individual eye.

| White Star |
In
2004, The Montreal Eye Clinic acquired the variable White Star
technology. It allows the surgeon to adjust the power and speed
of the machine, depending on the cataract condition and fragility
of the eye.
These new options enhance the safety of the surgery
and improve the visual outcome. |
| OCT Scan |
Without making any contact with the eye, the Stratus OCT scanner
takes multiple pictures across the retina to show your doctor
its internal structure.
This unique view is called cross-sectional images of the retina because it enables
your doctor to look directly at a “cutaway” view of the layers of
the retina and optic nerve head to evaluate their characteristics. Early detection
is crucial in initiating or modifying the treatment of glaucoma and retinal problems
before permanent damage occurs.
The OCT scanner gives your doctor highly accurate knowledge of your eye that
is simply unavailable with any other technology. While other machines show the
surface of these structures, the Stratus OCT scanner lets your doctor see what
lies beneath the surface. |
| Visual Field |
Your
visual field is the total area you can see. During a visual
field test, you press a button each time you see a light. A
printout shows the size of the area you can see. Dark areas
in your printout show reduced vision.
As nerve damage increases,
more dark areas appear. The test is designed to verify the
central and peripheral fields of vision. It should be repeated
regularly and the results analyzed and compared to previous
ones. |
| Laser Biometry |
The
IOL Master is used to scan your eyeball to measure its exact
diameter.
It uses a cold laser beam to calculate the power
of the lens (IOL) to be implanted in the eye. |
| Refraction |
This
test measures your total eye power to determine the exact degree
of your myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism.
|
| Tonometry |
This
is a test to measure the intraocular
pressure without making any contact with the eye.
|
| The Pentacan |
By
scanning thousands of points on the surface of the cornea,
topography can reveal the exact degree and axis of the astigmatism
so that it can be corrected during custom cataract surgery.
The Pentacan can be used in:
|
| OPD Scan |
The
Optical Path Difference scanner is the only system capable
of simultaneously measuring the refraction, topography and
wavefront aberrations.
By comparing and analyzing the combined
results of these tests, your doctor can predict
and improve the visual outcome after custom cataract surgery. |
