Understanding cataracts

A cataract is a clouding of the eye's normally clear lens. The cloudy lens scatters light and makes it hard for the eye to focus light into a clear image. As the cataract gets worse, your eye has a harder time focusing. This can cause blurred vision, glare and faded colors.

Secondary cataracts

In the months following cataract surgery, the membrane supporting the implanted artificial lens may become clouded. This can be treated, in a few minutes, using a Yag laser.
